INCENTEA recently held a webinar dedicated to the topic NIS 2: “How to Build Resilience”.
The main focus of this initiative was to equip organizations for the new cybersecurity and regulatory compliance challenges.
The event explored the importance of resilience in technology functions and in processes, in a context of growing digital dependence and increasingly sophisticated threats.
Focus on processes and the organization
One of the central points of the session, presented by specialist Hélia Pinto, IT Consultant at INCENTEA, was to dispel the idea that NIS 2 is a purely technological challenge. On the contrary, the directive requires robust operational measures to manage risks.
Implementing clear incident management and risk management processes was identified as the essential starting point to avoid wrong investments and prioritize critical assets.
The importance of the human factor and of management
Operational resilience depends not only on systems, but on the interaction between people, processes and technology. Training was highlighted as a mandatory requirement, ranging from workers to management bodies, which now hold direct responsibility for compliance.
On the inevitability of incidents, an important reflection was offered:
”Having failures is different from being able to withstand them. NIS 2 never tells us not to have failures; NIS 2 tells us to build resistance and resilience to these failures because they are going to happen

A strategy based on three vectors
INCENTEA’s strategy to support companies in this digital transition is based on three fundamental vectors:
- Protection and resilience: Focused on operational recovery capability and protection of critical assets;
- Behavior and people: Internal promotion of an active security culture and cyber hygiene;
- Governance and risk: Strategic management aligned with the business and control of the supply chain.
Impact of NIS 2 on the supply chain
This webinar also warned about the implicit reach of NIS 2, which affects not only entities considered essential or important, but also their suppliers (indirect entities).
If a supplier is critical for a covered entity, it may be required to comply with the same rigorous security controls.
“The responsibility always lies with important entities and essential entities,” explained Hélia Pinto, stressing that they must audit and ensure security evidence throughout their entire value chain.
The event closed with a reaffirmation of INCENTEA’s commitment to support organizations “from A to Z” in implementing this directive, ensuring that security is a driver of continuity and value creation for the business.
